Working with a GOTS-based ETL system

As an ETL Engineer at AnaVation, you will have the opportunity to work with a GOTS-based (Government Off-The-Shelf) Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) system. This system is responsible for loading vast amounts of information into a Postgres database with billions of rows. You will gain first-hand experience working with a system that deals with a file repository in the Petabyte range, demonstrating your ability to handle large-scale data processing.

Dealing with a file repository in the Petabyte range

One of the key challenges you will face as an ETL Engineer is dealing with a file repository that is in the Petabyte range. This requires you to have a deep understanding of data ingestion, processing, and storage techniques. You will apply your expertise in handling large volumes of data to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the ETL system.

Involvement in engineering planning and transition to a Cloud-based solution

Required Qualifications

To excel in the role of an ETL Engineer at AnaVation, the following qualifications are required:

  • 6 or more years of ETL experience: You should have a strong background in extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. Your experience should include handling large volumes of data and working with complex ETL systems.

  • Experience working with AWS: Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is essential as the ETL system is transitioning to a Cloud-based solution. You should be comfortable working with various AWS services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, and SNS.

  • Experience with SQL: Proficiency in SQL is necessary to effectively query and manipulate data within the Postgres database. Your understanding of SQL will enable you to optimize data retrieval and perform complex data transformations.

  • Experience with software and scripting for data ingest: As an ETL Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software scripts for data ingestion. You should have experience in software and scripting languages to automate the data ingestion process.
